Understand your rate

Reducing balance vs. flat rate

Many lenders quote a "flat" rate that charges interest on your original loan amount every month, even as you pay it down. KAMCCU charges interest on your reducing balance — the amount you actually still owe — so the same headline percentage costs you far less.

Take GH₵10,000 over 24 months at 1% per month. On a flat rate you would pay GH₵2,400 in interest. On KAMCCU's reducing balance you pay GH₵1,298— a saving of GH₵1,102.

You save GH₵1,102 with the same headline rate — because you only pay interest on what you still owe.
