Privacy policy

Your data belongs to you. This policy explains — in plain language — what we collect, why, and the rights you have under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

Last updated: July 2026

1. Who we are

KAMCCU Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. ("KAMCCU", "we", "us") is a registered co-operative credit union (GAR/NC/153) with its head office at KAMCCU House, Jones Nelson Street, Adabraka, Accra. For the purposes of the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), KAMCCU is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. What we collect

We collect only what we need to serve you as a member or applicant:

  • Identity data — your name, date of birth, Ghana Card or other national ID details, passport photographs and signature, collected when you apply for membership or a loan.
  • Contact data — your phone number, email address, residential and GPS address, so we can reach you about your accounts.
  • Financial data — your savings, shares and loan history with KAMCCU, income and employment details you provide on applications, and guarantor information where required.

3. Why we use it

We use your data to:

  • open and administer your membership, shares, savings and loan accounts;
  • assess loan applications and manage repayments;
  • contact you about your accounts, the AGM and member education;
  • meet our legal and regulatory obligations as a registered co-operative; and
  • prevent fraud and keep members' funds safe.

We do not use your data for purposes unrelated to your membership without asking you first.

4. How we store and protect it

Data submitted through this website is stored on Supabase, a secure cloud database platform, with encryption in transit and at rest. Access is restricted to authorised KAMCCU staff who need it to do their jobs. Paper records are kept securely at our branches. We retain records for as long as your membership is active and thereafter as required by law and co-operative regulations.

5. Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We share it only where necessary: with CUA (the Ghana Co-operative Credit Unions Association) and regulators for statutory reporting and supervision; with our auditors; and with service providers (such as our secure database host) who process it strictly on our instructions. Anyone we share data with is bound to protect it.

6. Your rights

Under Act 843 you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct data that is inaccurate or out of date;
  • request deletion of data we no longer have a lawful basis to keep; and
  • object to processing that goes beyond the purposes described here.

To exercise any of these rights, write to us at info@kamccu.com or visit any branch. We will respond within a reasonable time and never charge you for a first request.

7. Cookies

This website does not use marketing or advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites. Any cookies used are strictly necessary for the site to function.

8. Questions and complaints

If you have a question or concern about how we handle your data, contact us at info@kamccu.com, call +233 302 247 164, or write to KAMCCU House, Jones Nelson Street, Adabraka, Accra. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
